I love Fukushima’s summer.

Recently there have been many hot days here. Whenever I pass through the park I can hear the buzzing of cicadas.

‘Buzz, buzz’! as if they’re calling out to passersby, appealing how hot it is.

In August, along with the sweltering heat, Fukushima is home to many events.

1st and 2nd of August there is the warajimatsuri. And after the Fireworks display on the 9th of August, summer festivals kick off all around the prefecture, and it comes alive with crowds of people

Everyone dons beautiful yukata, and enjoy the summertime with their families, everyone is smiling, and the y enjoy Obon dancing, the delicious food sold at festival stalls, and games like goldfish scooping, making the most of every second of summer.

3 years have passed since the disaster occurred, as the people of Fukushima have overcome so many challenges, I think they appreciate, and make great efforts to make the most of times like this when there are many festivals

It is hot, but everyone is enjoying themselves. It is hot, but let’s make the most of ‘now’. It is hot, but the fun times will continue from now on.

I think these are some of the messages that Fukushima has to tell.
