NAKA10(Hirata-village):Distance(HAMA、NAKA、AIZU!)
The Phlox Subulata(also known as the moss phlox, mountain phlox) spreads over the fields like a colourful carpet.
After uploading these photos to Facebook. I received a flood of 'likes' from my friends. However one thing that caught me off guard was that there were a few comments saying 'Wow, Hokkaido's great!'. I was quick to ask, and apparently they'd mistaken the photos for a famous spot in Takigami Town, Hokkaido. Also due to the purple colour, my father mistook the flowers for lavenders. 'What are you doing looking at lavenders in Hokkaido? Shouldn't you be working? He asked me worriedly(I think?). (Lavender season isn't for a while yet, dad) In reality the photos aren't of Hokkaido at all. They are actually a park called Jupialand Hirata. Of course the park is located in my beloved Fukushima Prefecture. One may not realize it but there is actually much beautiful scenery located closer than you think. If you take the time on your days off you can find many wonderful locations, and with the help of locals you may fund some unexpected spots not mentioned in guidebooks along the way. Getting closer to nature can help you get closer to the people of Fukushima. This is one of my favourite things about being a CIR. |
