Dear world,
As you know, Fukushima suffered great devastation on 3/11/11. Unfortunately, though it’s been 3 years, many people only talk about the nuclear accident. Fukushima has become synonymous with radiation. But it should not be so. Having participated in a study tour, I was shown data and independent studies about the continual radiation level decreases as well as effective decontamination results. There is no doubt in my mind the Fukushima of now *is* safe. If anything, Fukushima should be synonymous with courageous resilience. The shift of focus should be on the people of Fukushima and their admirable spirit of overcoming. These people faced one of the grandest disasters in modern times and rose above it with a spirit symbolic of Fukushima’s own rich history. Every day, I interact with living history, living heroes this story. This makes Fukushima very special and unique, and I hope you can come and experience the true beauty of the Fukushima spirit.
