Fukushima isn’t for everyone. It reminds me a bit of my home state of Vermont. It is not known for its big cities or hustle and bustle, it’s more known for agriculture and natural beauty. I’ve also heard from Japanese people in other prefectures that Fukushima residents are notoriously nice and I have to say I agree.
Many people worry about the news of radiation and the disaster. The reality is that only a very tiny area of the prefecture is an evacuated zone, and if you are the type that always worries anyway, just don’t go to the coast.
But if you’re into the outdoors, hiking, and skiing - Fukushima is a pretty good place to be.
