Please feel the new breeze by fusing Fukushima's history, tradition, culture and modernity.

We will reproduce the appearance of the departure ceremony and procession of the festival “Soma Nomaoi”, a festival that represents Fukushima Prefecture, and retains the traditional culture of samurai.

The brand “FUKUSHIMA PRIDE by JUNKO KOSHINO” was born by giving a new breath to the crafts of Fukushima Prefecture by the world-renowned designer, Junko Koshino. For the 2019 collection announced in March this year, we will hold the first fashion show in the Fukushima prefecture.

Legend has it that around 1,000 years ago, the founder of the Soma Clan, Taira no Masakado, freed wild horses in Shimousa-no-kuni (northwestern part of Chiba Prefecture) to conduct war drills, with the wild horses. In present times, Soma Nomaoi festival is held every year on the last Saturday, Sunday and Monday of July at Hibarigahara Field (Minami-Soma City) as part of an offering to the Soma Nakamura, Soma Ota, and Soma Odaka Shrines.

FUKUSHIMA PRIDE by JUNKO KOSHINO

The world renowned designer Junko Koshino has aimed to add high value to Fukushima’s traditional crafts and local products through incorporating branding and design in this collection. She developed these products alongside entrepreneurs based in the prefecture through the Fukushima Creative Traditional Craft Creation Project (2016-2018).In March, she opened the first fashion show at Amazon Fashion Week TOKYO, the largest fashion festival in Japan.

She participated in the Paris collection for 22 years since 1978. After that, she held a number of shows in Beijing, NY, Cuba, and other countries. She has focused on international cultural exchanges. Awarded as an outstanding cultural contributor in 2017.
