  • Main characteristics:
    (1) Ranked 5th in the world in GNI per capita in 2016
    (2) Major industries are energy industry and agriculture
    (3) In renewable energy, wind power is particularly strong, accounting for about 50% of the produced electricity. District heating is also advancing.
    (4) Many companies related to wind power generation, including internationally known wind turbine manufacturers, are based in Denmark, which makes it a large cluster region.

Signing of MoU

Signing of an MoU on the Promotion of Economic Exchange(December 2014)

In December 2014 Fukushima Prefecture has signed an MoU with the Royal Danish Embassy. Its aim is the promotion of economic exchange in the field of renewable energy. Denmark has set a national goal to increase its share of renewables in the energy supply and demand, which is already about one third, to at least 50% until the year 2030. It is also planned to reduce the share of fossil fuels in the energy mix to zero until the year 2050.

Signing of an MoU between State of Green (SOG) and EnergyAgency.FUKUSHIMA (EAF)(May 2019)

On 23rd May 2019 an MoU has been signed between SOG, a public-private partnership from Denmark, which aim is to foster relations with international stakeholders and help the green transition, and EAF which promotes the development of renewable energy in Fukushima Prefecture. Denmark is one of the most advanced nations when it comes to renewable energy.
